Why share memories
We share memories all the time on social media. With tagging friends and family we are wanting to connect and remember the joy. Social media also bring back memories years later to reconnect.
The different channels of Social Media are also different ways to share memories. For example Snapchat holds the memory for only for a short while. Tik-tok shares moving memories, instagram shares still memories, facebook shares both still and moving memories with a lot more narration/stories.
There are other ways to share memories too. You can share an album on your phone with another iPhone user, you can use one of many different photo apps that link phones into a central photo hub to then tell a story & share photos. And finally you can share memories by creating photo gifts to then give away.
Therefore it is important to share our life story with others. It enables us to connect with them on a uniquely personal level. By talking about our parents and grandparents or recalling experiences from throughout our lifetime, we make family history come alive for our children, grandchildren and future generations. By sharing similar or not-so-similar experiences, we empathise with and understand one another better. Talking about the past also helps create and maintain our individual and shared identities.
And ultimately remembering the joy.
